E-commerce mobile app for travel industry

about the project
The main goals for the travel agency were to build a path of loyalty for existing and new customers, reduce online advertising costs and automate direct communication. In turn, the travel agency's customers have quick access to search for offers, bookings (including travel documents such as airline tickets), instant payments, and the use of additional services. During the trip, the application acts as a personal travel assistant, which helps to contact the tour representative, informs about the trip schedule and additional attractions in the destination. To achieve these goals, Itaka decided to create a mobile application that, at the same time, will bring benefits to the travel agency and the users themselves.  The application is fully integrated with the website and reservation system.

Extended search options
The app is equipped with a wide range of filters to make it easier for customers to search for tours, including the type of vacation, hotel standard, departure point, and trip duration. Thanks to our proven designing processes, prototyping, A/B testing, and data-driven approach, we created the best possible UI/UX design that made the application fully intuitive and user-friendly.
Customer zone
The solution was comprehensive and enabled the tour operator’s customers to:
access all the travel documents (anytime, even without an Internet connection)
easily compare prices, facilities, hotel standards, and reviews via the offer comparison tool and post their reviews purchase additional services (parking spots, insurance, trips, car rental, flights)
contact the holiday representative online without the need to meet them in person
always stay updated with the most interesting offers and benefit from joining an attractive loyalty program.
Back office
Together with a user-friendly interface, we designed a fully functional and intuitive back-end layer of the solution including smooth:
customer and holiday data processing
search engines and filtering based on advanced algorithms
convenient booking system and safe payments in a variety of options
customer service-related features
travel deal rating system
synchronization with API, customer zone, and all the required platforms.
Access to the information offline
A significant part of the data in the app is accessible offline. Although some features require an Internet connection, users can still benefit from the most important features such as entering the customer zone or checking travel-related information without accessing Wi-Fi.

Next steps

After more than 5 years of successful cooperation with the client, we continue with improvements and further mobile android and iOS app development. As the next step, we’re going to equip the app with new functionalities, such as automated invoicing or expanding with the satellite brand launched on the Lithuanian market. Thanks to the app’s module architecture, it is possible to quickly integrate the solution with platforms and systems operating in every other country.
